Last year when I was traveling to Israel I had the opportunity to also visit Jordan to see Petra, the ancient city built by the Nabataeans almost 2500 years ago. Since I was a kid and watched Indiana Jones I always wanted to go there and see this amazing place with my own eyes and finally I was able to fulfill my dream. 🙂
It was absolutely breathtaking and I would highly recommend going there! It is almost unbelievable what the Nabataeans had achieved and it was surely a mind-blowing experience for swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt when he rediscovered Petra for the western world back in 1812.
Unfortunately I could only spend a couple of hours there before we left for our accommodation somewhere within the dessert where we spend the night in a tent. It was freezing cold but that didn’t hold me back from exploring the surroundings of the camp. it was almost full moon and it felt like I was walking around the moon surface, very surreal.
The next morning after having breakfast we drove deeper into the dessert and explored a valley where they filmed Lawrence of Arabia. The landscape was utterly beautiful and I would love to come back here one day and stay a little longer!

Hallo Steffen!

I like quality of the backgrounds in these pictures, especially in the photo of the man in brown with red tassels standing on the cliff: the defocused background has a hazy, glassy quality to it that almost looks like film. Is this a quality of the lens, of the lighting, or what? Do you know?

The shots are all taken with the Voigtländer 21/1.8 M-Mount lens on a Sony A7s. Love that lens!
